IBM Enterprise Tape Drive
Secure, scalable and cost-effective data storage
Safeguard data with future-proof cyber resilience and air-gapped isolation
IBM Enterprise Tape Drive family addresses these issues by offering high-capacity and secure storage.
With interfaces like FC-16 and SAS-12, these drives integrate easily with existing tape infrastructure or can be used as standalone rack-mounted units. They support the LTFS format for simple graphical access to data and the built-in encryption ensures data confidentiality and helps meet stringent compliance requirements while protecting against unauthorized access.
Improve tape operations performance
Execute faster data transfer of up to 400MBps (up to 900 MBps compressed) with two 12 Gb/sec SAS ports and two 16 Gb/sec FC ports, while maintaining compatibility with existing IBM tape automation installations.
Enable reliable and cost-efficient connectivity
Achieve great performance, and reliability than other formats, providing a lower TCO. IBM Enterprise Tape Drives are recognized as a state-of-the-art in tape technology.
Data search efficency with RAO
RAO (Recommended Access Order) enables tape control applications to accelerate the retrieval of data from a single tape.
Get robust data protection
Maintain the security of your sensitive corporate data by implementing a reliable and solid line of defense.

Features
High capacity, operational simplicity
High capacity up to 50TB native and 150TB compressed helps reduce the need for additional tape drives and cartridges. Use fewer drives to reduce complexity for your tape infrastructure and more than double the compressed capacity of LTO-9 media.
Rack-mounts installation
IBM Enterprise Tape Drives with Fibre Channel interface can be installed on most 19-inch racks through a rack mount kit that provides better space utilization and enables installation and removal from either the front or the back without any tooling.
FC-16 Gb and SAS-12 Gb interfaces
Two different drive generations help optimize drive utilization and reduce infrastructure requirements. Enterprise Tape Drives can be shared on a storage area network through the existing Fibre Channel 16 Gb interface and SAS 12 Gb interface for use in distributed environments.
Protection against cybersecurity threats
Air-gapping enables most tape cartridges to reside in library slots , so they are offline most of the time and are not electronically accesible to hackers or ransomware. Tape provides a robust defense line to offer better protection for sensitive corporate data.
Scalable data protection for most open-systems servers
Supports connectivity to most open-systems servers to help simplify the storage environment and enable flexibility for growth and change in your data center. IBM Storage Protect and other compatible software can be used with IBM Enterprise Tape Drives for storage and tape management
Intuitive and graphical access with IBM Storage Archive
IBM Storage Archive enables direct, intuititve and graphical access to data stored in tape drives and libraries by incorporating the IBM Linear Tape File System (LTFS) format standard. LTFS compatibility allows tape-stored data to be accessed as if it were on disk or flash storage.
Encryption support
The IBM Enterprise Tape Drives-based encryption and associated IBM Security® Guardium® Key Lifecycle Manager components are supported in a wide range of environments, including select IBM Power® Systems, IBM System x, and other servers running Red Hat® , Enterprise Linux (RHEL)
